Attendio.com
Our Thinking
Why Attendio.com belongs in PremiumBrands and the thinking behind choosing a name to build on.
I founded PremiumBrands.com to offer selected domain names to people who want to build something they can stand behind. Attendio.com fits that work because the first use of the name is easy to picture: an invitation sent by a founder who has decided what kind of gathering deserves to exist. Before there is a large calendar or a mature product, there is a name to put on the door.
Building taught me to take the name seriously
I acquired the press release distribution business running on i-Newswire.com in 2007 and upgraded the business to Newswire.com in 2015. The shorter name gave us an exact brand to build around. It was pronounceable, direct and closely connected to the category we served. That experience made the practical value of a strong domain hard for me to ignore. The name was present in introductions, conversations and the daily work of growing the business.
On the morning we switched to Newswire.com, a prospect told one of our sales agents, “Oh yeah, Newswire.com. I’ve heard of you guys.” They could not have known us under a name we had only just started using. I remember that moment because it put the change into an ordinary sales conversation.
The business I helped build was acquired by Issuer Direct for about $44 million in 2022, as documented in the acquisition filing. That was a business transaction, with the team’s work behind it. A team built the service, earned customer relationships and kept improving the operation. What stayed with me was the benefit of doing that work under a name we were ready to keep.
The invitation is part of the product
Attendio brings that question into a different setting. People encounter an event through several separate moments: a message, a calendar entry, a registration page and the welcome when they arrive. A founder can connect those moments under one identity. I like the prospect of Attendio appearing on a first invitation and still fitting when the founder has a full season of gatherings to organize.
The name suggests participation through the attend stem, but its ending leaves the brand open. It can be introduced in ordinary language alongside the actual offer. That is how I would approach a coined name: make the purpose plain, keep the presentation consistent, and give people a real experience to attach to it. The founder gets to decide what Attendio becomes known for through the work that follows.
There is a practical discipline in choosing the first use carefully. An event platform might earn its place by making arrival easier for organizers. A community might begin with one useful conversation that members want to repeat. A workplace program might be built around a learning session that helps a team solve a recurring problem. The name can be ambitious while the first promise stays specific enough to deliver.
A decision to make early
AI has made it much easier to get a product or website into the world. My view is that the name matters more as the tools of building become widely available. Software can be recreated and features can be copied. Choosing the exact identity you want gives you something to carry through the iterations. It is a decision about how you want to introduce the business from its first day.
The fix-it-later mindset is the advice I question: get started under any name, then upgrade after the business has made it. Changing later reaches the email, the signage and the identity people have learned. A great name won’t save a bad business. It gives the founder a head start while the quality of the work still has to be earned.
I bought PremiumBrands.com before I had a plan for it. Waiting could have meant losing the opportunity to someone building a business on the name, with no reason to sell it. The same test guides my choices now: would I build on this? The names I have not built on yet are the ones I am open to selling. Through OnlineBusiness.com, my supporting strategy and development studio, I stay close to the practical questions of starting and improving businesses. PremiumBrands is where the domain acquisition conversation begins. I prefer to keep that conversation clear about the name itself and the founder's plans for it.
If Attendio.com is the right identity, a purchase or partnership inquiry can open that discussion. Payment plans and other structures are open to conversation. An optional personalized launch or rebrand roadmap comes with every purchase. If the right name sits outside this collection, PremiumBrands can help with that acquisition too. The goal is a name the founder can put on an invitation, introduce with confidence and keep building around. A premium .com is a trust shortcut.
